Strange phenomena in OpenGL console app

Hi guys,
While I was checking the memory usage of some simple GLUT app’s, using the ‘Windows task manager’ I noticed that when I iconized the console window, the memory usage dropped from 10Mb to 1Mb (!) for example. When I openned this window again the memory usage remained stable and low, around 1Mb.
Any idea what might be the reason? Is the same application written in Windows will improve memory usage?
