i have been trying for an hour straight to set my oculus app as the default for openxr, but when I look up the directory for openxr (programs>khronos>openxr) it just doesn’t exist. I have no clue what I’m meant to do since I can’t use the in-app oculus button for no reason, and I can’t set it manually. can somebody PLEASE help me.
Do you mean the registry entry HKLM\Software\Khronos\OpenXR\1
that sets the runtime? It’s supposed to be set automatically by the appropriate app and not by hand, for the common usage at least.
Anyway the app you need to install is now called “Meta Quest Link”. Once in there, go to Settings->General
and you should see an option with a button to "Set Meta Quest Link as active OpenXR runtime"
.
yeah but the button for that just doesn’t do anything.
also what I mean by oculus app IS the meta quest link app mb
Looks like the button doing nothing is a somewhat common issue among many users, and has to do with the user accounts and some elevated privileges missing. So if you can’t even modify the registry by hand, you’re probably falling into this category as well. I would talk to my systems admin/whoever created my account.
there’s another issue with this solution, since whenever I’m in said admin account, during setup for the storage registry, it gives me an unknown issue occurred error. so I can’t change it from there without a solution to this issue.
