Should be. GT5xx supported OpenGL 4.5+.
My guess is you have a GT540M not a GT540. Double-check by looking in Device Manager, or by running a tool like GPU-Z or CPU-Z.

IIRC, NVidia tends to hide overlay support in their Quadro cards.
Your best bet is probably to go here:
and download the latest drivers for your card.

Are you sure you need overlay plane support? Overlay planes come from a day when easy off-screen rendering wasn’t yet supported well. Now it’s ubiquitous.
