lighing question

I know how to do lighting in openGL but I am trying to create a scene where a car is shown with its headlights. I cant seem to figure out how to make the headlights look like they are actually lighted. What should I do.

Perhaps if you turn off lighting in general and then draw the headlights. No lighting would be calculated on the headlights and has thus no effect on them. Then you could adjust the texture to make them look like they are on.
