Is there a function to load a bmp file for texture mapping?

I know that auxDIBImageLoad works. Is there any other function can do this?

In OpenGL no. Outside, there are plenty of 3rd party image loading libraries. I would recommend DevIL ( ), which can load (and save) many image formats (BMP, TGA, JPG, PNG…), and is easy to use.
