is there a future of opengl?

recently i had a discussion with a colleague (both of us are developers using OGL), and we came to the question: is there a future for opengl on consumer-PC? considering the current situation in the videogame industry, it looks rather bad for ogl. few games use it, the only killer app being doom3. sure, many games using the doom3 engine will follow, but what next? more and more games are using d3d, and IHVs would be surely happy to be able to cut off opengl ICD development. so, what are the chances for opengl?
