Just wanted to say that for those trying to fix their problems, keep looking!
For me, the problem turned out to be a bad L2 Cache on my motherboard.
Interesting that DirectX seemed to work just fine but OpenGl crashed.
Unfortunately, I’m now taking a 30% performance hit with it disabled. The good news is that everything is running much more smoothly without my L2 cache.
Now I’m left with do I want to spend $50 and get the exact same mobo or finally invest in some DDR and move to a newer, faster mobo for more money.
For those of you with a modern computer and video card (come on you Voodoo and TNT users!) and who’ve tried everything they can think of, you might give disabling the L2 cache in your BIOS and see what happens.

You can get a MOBO that supports DDR memory and the Athlon XP or Pentium 4 for under $50.
