GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem

This is what its saying for my RTCW game of the year edition. I’m runnin a g2 mx 400 64mb and none of the driver stuff is helping worth a danm. I’m new to XP and hardly know anything about it so anyone who has alot of experience with XP any advice would be helpful.

Different Cards, but the same OS, I suppose. Could Win ME be the reason?

Win Me worked with Quake III, Soldier of Fortune (and others OPENG GL based games) some time ago.
When I reformatted-reloaded the same OS (Me) I’ve got the ‘Could not load OpenGL subsystem’ message. Why???
I already updated my SiS630/730 drivers, and nothing happens… please help.

I read in this website that, in dis file called win.ini, all u had to do wuz put a semicolon before DVA=0 which would make it look like ;DVA=0
the website is

Hope this helps Non Xp users cuz i have XP and Microsoft thinks direct x sofves everything…

Scenerio: You have an AMD XP 1.15 GHz system with NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX400 card and WindowsXP. You want to play JKII, you have the latest drivers, but when you try to run it, it says “Could not load OpenGL subsystem”

How do I rememdy this situation?

This is awesome. It worked for me with ME and a Gforce3. http://www.uq.net.au/~zzmbisho/how_to_fix-OpenGL-Subsystem.html

To: Scorpion Eagle (A big thank you)
And tks so much to Agarthan for posting the problem of the OpenGL at www.uq.net.au

It worked for me too…just great.

Again tks for taking the time to post this info…
Thanks to whoever originally posted this fix.[/b]

This may help you, it didn’t for me but it may be different on different computers!!

I have a Abit Siluro T400 (nvidia geforce2 64Mb) and window XP. With directx 9 many games (MOHAA,ONI,…) don’t work now. There is a problem with opengl subsystem. The message is :"

I have tried to correct win.ini but i don’t have that line to change so ?!?.

I have winXP Proffesional on a Dual Athlon 1800+ 2GB RAM. Everything went well until I installed Matlab 6.5. release 13. Erasing Matlab 6.5 everything worked correctly again.

i bought JK2 today and I’ ve had the same problems with Opengl subsystem, its wierd as i have been playing quake 3( i just bought this pc and the bloke i bought it off had q3 installed and gave me the game) q3 plays but JK2 doesn’t!
any help

how would i turn off the speaker in the pc
like someone said to do? i wanna try that, please guide me im new with pc’s

yepz, also with me. But it is probably because our videocards aren’t made for these kind of games. I own a laptop with a Trident Cyberblade Ai1 AGP.

If anyone knows a program that solves the multitexture problem, or bypasses it with software (Like Scitechs GLDirect for OpenGL if your videocard/drivers doens’t support OpenGL), let me know!

YO try going to nvidia.com and downloading a newer xp driver or graphics driver…should work im tryin right now

when i was using ME, i could play half-life with opengl just fine, but when i went to xp, it says my video card wont support the opengl video setting, no matter what resolution i set it on, it says this. Im gettin tired of playing it using the pos software renderer, help would be appreciated.

also, if anyone has any idea how to get moh:allied assault to work, at the beggining when its loading it says could not load opengl subsystem, if you can help, please post

Anyone of you have problems have matlab (6.5) installed? If so, try to disable the matlab server service - helped me (known bug on matlab’s website - “opengl mode not found”)
