Severe OpenGL Problems in Windows 2000 (ATI 9700 PRO)

Severe OpenGL Problems in Windows 2000 (and XP, had the same problems)

Card: ATI Pro 9700
Driver : 3.1 Catalyst
Card BIOS: 113-94206-102
Package: 7.83-030120a1-007447C
2D version:

Display: Viewsonic VG181b (DVI Connected)
Refresh Frequency: 75 Mhz (the best I can get)
Resolution: 1024 x 768 (what I prefer, but fails in others too)

Problem: When using these screen saver, not the standard built in OpenGL ones …

The screen totally goes nuts, garble, no shattering, all sorts of stuff.

  • Hardware acceleration has been turned down, 1 , 2 , even 3 or 4 notches, problem won’t disappear !!*

Download these here, see for yourself:

Cyclone, Euphoria, Flocks … flux … lattice …all of them load, but after running -
also cause hang ups, drawing issues, and sometimes the Advanced Button does even work
on Display Properties. Happens with all drivers, back to Cat 2.5. I have a Sound Blaster Audigy2
installed. No conflicts or unknown devices in Device manager, either ! HELP!
