Resident Textures

I read in the Red book that all textures are resident by default. Is this true?

Thx, And how can I know the total memory my card/OGL implementation has to handle resident textures? How can I know current memory used?


It would be great if all your textures could be resident at all times!

What you can do to improve performance when the memory reserved for textures is not enough is to prioritize them, read the red book section on texture objects pg 394.
