I am having a problem lately with an app I’m working on.
I have an OpenGL application that is supposed to run in parallel to a DirectX application under windows XP and I’m seeing under load the occasional soft lockup, that is, the whole system locks up for about 10 seconds and then starts working again. This happens intermittently every few minutes.
I’ve run some more tests and it seems that it is also enough to also start several instances of the OpenGL app very quickly and it will also cause the same lock (a single one this time instead of it coming and going).
Did anybody here see such a behavior before, and more importantly, have any ideas as to how to avoid it?
This is by the way with NVidia cards (gt240 and gtx285) and the latest drivers
