OpenGL failure on Riva TNT2 Ultra

I have an Athlon 1GB with a Riva TNT2 Ultra 32MB card. OpenGL worked great. Played hours of the Serious Sam demo. Then, OpenGL just disappeared and nothing seems able to bring it back. I’ve tried swapping out the opengl32.dll, updating the nVidia drivers, reinstalling the AMD miniport drivers…NOTHING WORKS! The message I get is that the system looks at opengl32.dll and then completely ignores the video card and then fails. Any advice? Anyone?

And from this very forum comes the answer:

Yank that little troublemaker out of the WIN.INI file and all is well.
