OpenGL Driver - Why?

Hello!
I have a question:
Which purpose has the OpenGL-Driver for the grafic-device? Or: Why must the grafic-device support OpenGL?

Sorry for my bad English, but I hope you can help me.

Bye

The video card doesn’t have to support OpenGL, but if you like to play video games, it should support OpenGL since many games utilize Opengl for the graphics.

The driver tells the graphics hardware how to execute OpenGL code. The driver basically is a level of abstraction between OpenGL code and the graphics hardware. Many video cards can run OpenGL code on the graphics hadware, which is much faster (usually) than running the same code on your CPU.

I hope that helps, and makes sense.

Yes, Thank You!
