Hi, I have an VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP graphics chipset and I tried playing GTA San Andreas and when the game starts, you cannot see the text, its juss a bunch of blocks, I updated to the latest drivers but still the same problem, I googled this issue and I found that many others have OpenGL issues with their games. Any help would be appreciated.
Are you sure it uses GL?
/S3G UniChrome IGP graphics chipset does not really have full support for openGL.
The most recent drivers will not help with that.
One aspect not “really” fully supported is “GL_ARB_texture_compression”. I hear there are other gaps.
Even SciTech’s handy prog for letting Open GL based progs use directX in-place-of OpenGL proves useless for this.
(or at least, I think that’s what it’s supposed to do).
Best advice I can offer:
lots of 40-50 buck cards that do a fair job with nearly all modern games.
That’s the prob with IGPs, they go out-of-date faster than the rest of the MB.
