I am trying to use Collada to export animations from Maya for use in the Unreal3 engine. I have a scene with multiple referenced character files, and I want to batch export animations for each character. One of the problems I am running into is that each character is in a different namespace and I have no idea how either the collada exporter or unreal’s collada importer deals with Maya’s namespaces. Does anyone have any quick info on the exporter?
Unfortunately I don’t have a clue about how ColladaMaya handles Maya namespaces, but Feeling Software maintains the ColladaMaya plugin, and if you head over to their website you can find forums where you might get more feedback. I believe their source is freely downloadable, so you could also take a look yourself.
