I recently got my MD5 models skinned properly on the GPU, and wrote up a little journal entry about it on GraphicsDev.net:
well done, i was gonna take the piss first, but seeing it is in fact a worthwhile effort wont.
on the premise of the article i question why? why split up the meshes so u can skin them on the gpu. 10:1 its slower
btw nice plan of emulating gamedev.net, success with the site
It was more an exercise in doing any sort of GPU skinning, and since I have plenty of Doom 3 models to test with, I figured I’d just use them as test data. And it worked.
