lathe object not exported using colladaMax

Using 3ds Max 2009 with colladaMax, i find that geometry created form splines, such as a lathe object, are not exported.

I’ve tried unsuccesfully adding various modifiers to the stack (such as Edit Mesh) but it apears that the only way I can get it to work is to convert it to a mesh (or Collape the object). This is not desirable as it would be too easy to save the project in this state and loose the ability to modify the shape at spline level.

Any suggestions?
