HEY THIS REALLY WORKS. FOLLOW ALL THESE AND THE EXTRA DIRECTIONS AT THE BOTTOM! http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_archive
Go to the very last 2. download the bottom one and install. Do not freak out when the Windows Icon message comes up. install it no matter what. Restart computer.
Go back and download the second driver from the bottom. Repeat all the above steps.
Then download the LATEST drivers.
(THIS IS FOR NVIDIA GEFORCE CARDS ON XP/2000

after all that go to your HL file and delete the opengl.dll in there. Then go to your System32 file and copy the one out of there. It should be bigger in size than the one in the HL. After u do that it should work.
BIG UPS TO BRACHOLI FOR THE FIRST PART> IT REALLY HELPED OUT!!!

Nothing like someone who has no idea what he is talking about…

First of all folks, if you don’t have XP or 2000, DO NOT DO WHAT HE SAYS.

Second, if you do not have an Nvidia card, DO NOT DO WHAT HE SAYS.

Third, if you have a Geforce4 or above, I highly recommend sticking with the latest drivers.

Fourth, if you are going to go back to older drivers, I personally recommend 30.82.

And finally, always remember that advice on these boards is very freely given without regards to experience or knowledge, so take anything any of us say with a grain of salt and a big ol’ disclaimer.

USER BEWARE

What’s this crap about copying opengl32.dll into your game’s folder?

This is totally unecessary. You guys don’t even know what that file does.
