Field of view from glFrustum?

People seem to be implying that glFrustum determines the field of view but how is that possible if it only takes 6 parameters. You are just defining a box that isn’t necessarily centered at (0,0,0), how is the camera angle determined?

Have I got this wrong? I want more control than I can get with gluPerspective but I haven’t found a clear explanation of glFrustum yet.
