I believe the proposed graphics high-end bus, PCI-X 16x, has more bandwidth than AGP 8x.

However, PCI-X 1x has less bandwidth, of course. IIRC, the “x” rating in PCI-X is how many leads there are on the bus, and each one gives you the same bandwidth as a single AGP channel (which, IIRC, is 2x PCI). I could easily be off by a bit, though; gotta look it up to be sure.

Ow, how nice. As you see - programmers are more clever than hardware designers are.

please leave sound for the soundcard, coz without soundcards, a whole lot of people will be out of job

But how about making it in opposite way? Would it be possible to use your DSP to optimize graphic’s processes?
