Assimp looks cool too
But i dont think AssImp will support animation.Even though it has good support for other formats,in the case of collada am seeing that it is not loading properly for complex collada model .
ColladaDom has animation support.It also parse the document and it is capable to extract the animation data without any problem.I would suggest the before starting analysis properly based on your requirement

The ASSIMP site says that animating with Collada may be buddy but there is a youtube video of someone using ASSIMPview and they show simple animations on the Collada astroboy model.
