cg and pixel shaders

I’m pretty new in the world of cg and if my understanding is right, cg doesn’t support the pixel shaders under OpenGL. So we are stock with the good old register combiners.

Is that correct? If so, does anybody know if NVidia plans to have the pixel shader functionalities included in the next release of CG?
