buffer region

ktx_buffer_region is an unofficial extension to save and restore regions of the screen faster than would otherwise be possible with glReadPixels/glDrawPixels. It was promoted to an official standard as WGL_ARB_Buffer_Region, but in the process moved from ogl to the wgl layer. Does anyone know if there is an equivalent GLX_ARB_Buffer_Region under consideration anywhere?
