Bones Animation

Is there any way of doing/coding animation using bones in OpenGL, as used in those 3d softwares. (where can I get examples?) Or are there any way of porting a 3d model into OpenGL code with their bones intact. Right now Im using 3d Exploration and it doesn’t seem to port over the bones. Just the model and textures. Any help or advice is much appreciated.
